QUORN PLATINUM JUBILEE FAIR!
FREE entry to the fair and lots to see and do!
On Saturday 4th June come down to Stafford Orchard in Quorn to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee in an event packed day. There will be lots of opportunity for both adults and children to join in. The Tug ‘o War Tournament will be a highlight of the day so if you fancy taking part just let us know. There will be some quite serious competition for the prizes – but we are also looking for some fun family teams too. And who will be the Quorn Champion Welly Wanger? If you think you could throw a wellington boot further than most this prestigious title could be yours! The theme for the Children’s Fancy Dress Parade is ‘Kings and Queens through History’ and entering could not be easier. Just have fun putting together your costume and come to the registration tent between 11.30 and 12.00. There will be prizes! (For children 11yrs or under.) Children and young people can also sign up to take part in some fun races later in the afternoon. We have not forgotten that other much loved family member. Bring your pooch along to the Bark Hill Dog Show in the morning. (Registration from 9.30am.) This always popular event could make your beloved dog a star! Most of our stallholders will also be offering an activity either free or for a minimal charge so there will be cake decorating as well as eating! Crazy Golf and Willow Weaving, Tin Pan Alley and Hook a Duck and much more. There will also be lots of entertainment from Morris Dancing to a roving theatre group to Quorn children performing songs and dance. The afternoon will end with the Quorn Ukulele Orchestra at 4pm. Bring a bottle and enjoy their concert in the warm (we hope) June air.
Coming soon.......new play equipment to be installed in Cave's Field! Watch this space for updates!
Grounds and Facilities Officer, David, has been engaging with local schools and playgroups to establish plans for a more desirable play area. He’s worked hard to find out the types of equipment children want to find in their local park, “It really helps to give children a sense of ownership and pride in their park when they know they have been involved in the plans”.
Welcome to the Quorn Parish Council website.
This site has been developed to give the residents access to their Council.
We hope to regularly update these pages to communicate what the Council wishes to achieve throughout the year and what progress is being made on any current projects or issues which have been raised.
For more information about the village in general please visit the Quorn Village webpage.
We have already incorporated an archive of the Council minutes from meetings January 2019 onward and will continue to add more to that archive. If in the meantime you require the minutes from an older meeting, do not hesitate to contact the office. We will also continue to upload the latest dates and minutes from all the Council meetings onto this site.
We will use the News and Events column to keep you informed about local information and other items which we think are important for you to know. The column will also carry details about what’s happening in the area and we encourage the organisers of events to let us know, using the contact form, so we can provide further publicity for your activities.
